Bagudu Hirse: Kidnapped Ex-Minister Regains Freedom

Mr Bagudu Hirse, a former Minister of State (Foreign Affairs), who was abducted by gunmen in Kaduna last Sunday, has regained his freedom.

“Bagudu was released in the early hours of Saturday,” his brother, John Hirse, a retired permanent secretary in the federal civil service and currently District Head of Mangu, in Plateau, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.
While thanking Nigerians for the prayers and words of encouragement “during the trying period”, John stated that the former minister was “hale and hearty”.
“May God reward everyone who stood by us during the tough period,” he said.
John, however, did not give further details, and also refused to comment over whether a ransom was paid to the abductors.
He was abducted on November 20, by gunmen at the Kaduna residence of Ambassador Mamman Daura, where he had gone to condole the family over the death of the former Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji ibrahim Dasuki.
Bagudu, who was the governorship candidate of Labour Party in Plateau state in 2015, was released on Saturday, November 26, after spending close to a week in the custody of his abductors
