On Monday, Gavin Henderson, 27, appeared in court after he murdered his 15-year-old sister because she took too long in the restroom. On June 18, around 3 p.m., Keaira Henderson, was using the bathroom when her 27-year-old brother, Gavin Henderson, needed to get in.
Gavin had just moved in with his mother and his siblings. He had recently been released from a Florida prison last year for several violent crimes, according to records.
He had also previously pulled a knife on another one of his sisters but no one called the police. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the time of the incident, Keaira’s 12-year-old sister was home and their mother was at work.
“She said there was an altercation about Keaira taking too long in the bathroom, which led to the fighting,” Maldonado testified.
After the two scuffled, Keaira took off running outside. Gavin then picked up a 10-inch hunting-style knife and chased after his little sister who was banging on neighbor’s doors for help yet received no response.
Afraid and confused, the 12-year-old stayed inside, claiming she didn’t know exactly what was going on.

At the moment, Gavin had stabbed her the first time. Police statements from Gavin say he thought, “This will send me back to prison,” according to Maldonado.
To him there was “no turning back” so he continued to stab the child through her cries for help.
Gavin then went to a store clerk and told them to call the police. Authorities arrived, arrested Galvin and charged him with murder.
