The controversial governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, won by former governor Timiprye Sylva has been cancelled by the National Working Committee of the party. The party has fixed Tuesday the 29th of September for the conduct of fresh primaries.
Mr John Odigie-Oyegun, the National Chairman of the Party, told journalists after the committee’s meeting on Monday that the party decided to cancel the controversial primaries after prolonged discussions and anyone against that decision including the former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, may challenge it in court.
The APC has barely 24 hours before the deadline of Wednesday the 30th of September when it must submit the name of its candidate for the governorship election in the state coming up on December the 5th, to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
