Boko Haram fighters have waylaid travelers in the north-eastern part of Nigeria with many feared dead.
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have ambushed travelers on Borno highway which left several dead and many with gunshot wounds, a Civilian Joint Task Force, CTJF source told Daily Trust.
The travelers came under attack between Longomani and Musini near Ngala town at about 5:30pm on Thursday evening in Ngala local government area of Borno State.
The insurgent opened fire at passengers and burnt trucks vehicles conveying food items, The CJTF Source told a news correspondent via telephone.
He said “Many passengers were shot dead and several fled into the bush along with soldiers”.
“They burnt down at least 5 vehicles including a truck with food items, 2 golf cars and a Peugeot’s”.
