After a successful completion of the first preliminary stage i.e. Primary School Category, CLB Academy Spelling Bee Competition returned last weekend for its second preliminary stage i.e. Junior Secondary School Category with over 10 schools in attendance and a total of 55 students.
The competition commenced with an opening address by the Host of the Day; Victoria Nkong CEO Qtaby Events who then introduced The Jury for the day;Mr Efe Omorogbe; renowned journalist, CEO Buckwyld Media & and manager to the Legendary Tuface Idibia a.k.a 2Baba, Mr Oladapo Oyewumi; CEO/Founder Centre for Law & Business, and Mr Oye Akideinde; Regional Director West Africa, Boom Music Player, Co-founder 360NOBs. The Pronouncer,Dr. Blessing Ntamu; Lecturer, Department of Educational Foundation, University of Calabar, Author, Host, Psychologist Radio Show, CRBC Radio, Calabar, made a short speech urging children to pay more attention to studying and imbibe a healthy reading culture and spend less time on social media.

Schools present at the Second Preliminary Stage included; Isolog Schools, Royal Regency Schools, Ambassadors College, Ruling Stars Schools, Straitgate College, Covenant Child Academy, Lekki British International School, Princeton College, Dansol High School, Rainbow College, Straitgate High School, Jesilo High School, Brain Breeders School, Attwool School, Debiruss School.
It was a tough competition at the Junior Secondary School Category as all contestants competed vigorously amongst themselves to qualify for the Grand Finale. At a stage, two keen contestants were evenly matched and went through several rounds of competitive spelling between the two of them before a winner could emerge. Ten finalists emerged from five rounds and will proceed to the The Grand Finale on December 9, 2017 at The Landmark Event Centre, Oniru, Lagos.
The Grand Finale will feature a special French spelling categoryfor Junior and Senior Secondary Schools contestants which will test the contestants’ French spelling skills and also the use of words in French. The final preliminary stage which will feature a continuation of the Junior Secondary School category and the Senior Secondary School Category will hold on Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Governance Hall, Centre for Law and Business, Victoria Island. At the first preliminary stage (primaries 4 -6) and from highly rated schools such asCorona Schools, Princeton Schools, Pampers Private School, Straitgate Schools, Liberty Schools, The Foreshore School, Sahel Montessori School, Chrisland School, Future Kids School, Heritage House School, Grange School, The Ambassadors Schools, First Quiver Schools, MD Schools, Ruling Stars School amongst others as well as public schools sponsored by the organisers to participate in the Competition featuring in excess of 100 contestants emerged the following finalists who will proceed to the Grand Finale on December 9, 2017 as well:

Members of the Jury for the Primary School Category included Ms. Fadekemi Olumide – Aluko; Founder/Head of School, The Toddler Tree School and Member, Board of Governors, Grange School.
Tickets for the Grand Finale are now available and on sale at Centre for Law & Business, No. 18 Babatunde Jose Road, Off Adetokunbo Ademola, Victoria Island and at Qtaby Events Ltd. Plot 902B, Gbolahan Owolabi Close, Omole Phase 1 GRA, Omole, Lagos. Tickets cost N5, 000 per person.
