Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of N3 billion Assets Linked To Ex Oil Minister, Diezani
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of assets linked to former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, and five others, Channels Television reports.
The assets are estimated to be worth about N3 billion.
The assets include 56 houses linked to a former Minister and located in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
Punch reports that they were acquired between 2011 and 2013 using front companies.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission claimed that Diezani paid $21,982,224 for the properties, adding that it believed that the funds were proceeds of crime.
The anti-graft agency listed the properties to include 29 terraced houses comprising eight four-bedroomed penthouse apartments, six three-bedroomed apartments, two three-bedroomed maisonettes, two twin bedroomed apartments and one four-bedroom apartment.
The permanent forfeiture order which followed the ruling on an application filed by the anti-corruption agency, EFCC was made by Justice Abdulaziz Anka.
Mrs. Alison-Madueke is currently in the UK where she is also being investigated for money laundering.
