The Senate, in a tweet on Wednesday, announced that by popular votes, Magu has been rejected as the head of EFCC.
This is the second time the senate is rejecting Magu’s nomination. The first, according to the Upper Chamber, was as a result of a “security report” by theDepartment of State Services (DSS) sent to the legislature which linked Magu to one “Umar Mohammed, a questionable businessman.”
However, another report published by Premium Times said the DSS’ claims were “untrue”.
According to Premium Times, a second report by the DSS, read during Magu’s second confirmation hearing on Wednesday, said that he is not fit to head the anti-corruption agency.
“In the light of the foregoing, Magu has failed the integrity test and will eventually constitute a liability to the anti-corruption stand of the current government,” Premium Times quoted Senator Dino Melaye who read from the DSS report, as saying.
