
Military troops of about 119 Task Force Battalion, 8 Division Nigerian Army, sent at Kangarwa, Kukawa LGA of Borno State, yesterday killed 13 Boko Haram terrorists in a counter assault by the troops. Tragically, 1 officer lost his life amid the experience, while 3 others were injured.
As per Acting Director Army Public Relations; Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the assault which started at around 4.00pm and went on for about four hours, required the troops to call for air bolster.
To which the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) immediately reacted by dispatching an Intelligence Surveillance and observation (ISR) flying machine and a Ground Attack Fighter Aircraft in support of the ground hostile. The furious counter observed a few extremists escaping with gunfire wounds and surrendering coordinations and weapons.
The troops killed 2 Hilux vehicles having a place with the radicals and recouped the accompanying; a Hilux vehicle, 1 Browning Machine Gun (BMG), 1 Anti Aircraft Gun (AAG), 2 General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), 1 Light Machine Gun (LMG), 2 Rocket Propelled Guns Seven (RPG 7) tubes and bombs, 5 AK-47 Rifles and 550 Rounds of Anti-Aircraft Gun ammo.
