The body of a young woman of 22 has been found dead inside an "abandoned" car that supermarket workers ignored for at least three months.
Employees at a California branch of Walmart assumed the silver Volkswagen Jetta had simply been forgotten by its owner.
This week somebody finally peered through the tinted glass - only to spot the body of 22-year-old Lauren Jessie Moss.
Police say the tinted glass and a sunshade over the windscreen made it difficult for passers-by to see into the vehicle.
Trying to track Ms Moss' final movements, investigators checked the supermarket's security camera footage, which only goes back to the end of December.
The car was already parked in the carpark in the earliest recorded clip, suggesting it had been there for several months.
Ms Moss' sister told reporters that Lauren left a suicide note behind for family and a drug needle was found in the vehicle.
She had suddenly left a rehab facility, the station reports.
Police have performed an autopsy, but a cause of death has yet to be determined.Officers suspect the woman’s death was a suicide but continue to wait for the results of toxicology reports.
