Will Smith Stars as a Nigerian Doc Bennet Ifekandu Omalu in Controversial New Film ‘Concussion’

                                 
This a true story of the shocking discovery of a Nigerian Doctor in the US.....

The critically acclaimed movie ‘Concussion’ starring Will Smith is set for release in cinemas in Nigeria as from January 1st 2016. In the movie, Will Smith plays the role of a Nigerian forensic neuropathologist and American immigrant, Dr Bennet Omalu who became an American hero, when he discovered CTE, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player and fought for the truth to be known. Omalu’s emotional quest puts him at dangerous odds with one of the most powerful institutions in the U.S, National Football League (NFL). 

In 2002, Omalu performed an autopsy on Mike Webster, one of the Pittsburgh Steelers' most famous players who supposedly died of a heart attack at 50. In the years before he died, Webster had struggled with mental illness and fallen into financial ruin. 

His quest led to a discovery that rocked the NFL and medicine: a degenerative brain disease associated with repetitive blows to the head called CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
