Department of State Service Arrests Dasuki

After a prolonged siege to his Asokoro, Abuja residence, the operatives of Department of State Service this morning arrested the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd.).

In what is proving to be a long drawn battle between the Federal Government and the NSA, Dasuki was initially charged with illegal possession of arms.

The charges were later amended to include money laundering as Dasuki sought the court’s permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.

However, a purported federal government report claimed that Dasuki had embezzled almost 2 billion Naira under the Jonathan administration.

It is unclear why he has been arrested by the DSS despite a court order that the DSS release his travel documents.

Meanwhile, more DSS operatives have stormed the ex-NSA’s residence apparently to carry out searches of the building for documents relating to the arms contracts.
