A bomb blast ripped through large crowds in Yola, northeast Nigeria, on Tuesday, a Red Cross official and a resident said, just days after visiting President Muhammadu Buhari vowed Boko Haram was close to defeat.
The explosion happened in the Jambutu area of the Adamawa state capital at about 8:20 pm (1920 GMT). Aliyu Maikano from the Red Cross said an unknown number of people had died and about 40 others were injured.
