At least 26 suspected pirates and 7,000 copies of pirated films, especially pornographic films were confiscated by the Nigeria Copyright Commission and Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board during a three-day anti-piracy raid across the state.
The three-day raid, which was carried out in collaboration with the Yoruba Movie Producers/Marketers Association of Nigeria covered Iyana-Ipaja, Agege, Oshodi, Ijora, Orile Iganmu and Obalende.
Executive Secretary of the LSFVCB, Mr. Bamidele Balogun who disclosed this yesterday, said the raid was part of the continuous effort to rid the State of the sale of pirated and unclassified movies asserting that those that were caught during the raids will be tried and brought to justice.

Balogun stated that the State Government was concerned that Nigerian artistes were not getting maximum benefits from their works and this posed a serious challenge.
He maintained that piracy is a greatest enemy of creative industry which must be defeated for the film industry as well as legitimate practitioners to grow.
The General Secretary of Yoruba Movie Producers/Marketers Association of Nigeria, YOVIPMAN, Mr. Adetunji Ojetola who led his team for the raid confessed that the Association had made spirited effort in the past to curtail piracy.
