I am still in shock to see that Hajia Bilikisu, Northern Nigeria’s first female editor was among the victims of the Saudi Stampede Nigerians are among the 717 prilgrims who died on Thursday's stampede during the symbolic stoning of the devil ritual, at the hajj in Saudi Saudi Arabia.
The incident which left over 800 people injured is the deadliest to happen during Hajj in the last 25 years.
I met her during my youth service in Abuja and she really trusted in my foundation, Girls Child Concerns Owned by Dr Mairo Mandara..She was always there for us everytime and I really loved the way she was strict..

6 Nigerians have so far died in the incident and have since been buried according to Islamic rites.
A Nigerian prigrim said:
"There were people from Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Senegal among other nationalities. People were just climbing on top of others in order to move to a safer place and that’s how some people died. “It affected some members of our group. I lost my aunt as a result of the stampede and at the moment, two women from our entourage – a mother and her daughter – are still missing."

Among those who died in the tragedy is Prof. Tijani El-Miskin, one of Nigeria’s respected Islamic intellectuals. El-Miskin, a professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies, was among the 11 candidates who contested for appointment as University of Maiduguri Vice Chancellor, last year. He was also the Chairman of the Borno State Pilgrims Board.
A member of the Nigerian medical team, Dr Hafsat Shittu are among the victims of the tragedy.
