Today, President Jonathan Launched the new E-National identity card at the Villa in Abuja.The card which was created in collaboration with mastecard, is a multi-purpose card for identification, electronic signatures, biometric on-card verification. So it's two in one, ID card and ATM.
Cardholders can use it for depositing funds ,withdrawals, getting social benefits and making payments for goods and services at any location accepting MasterCard worldwide. The first phase of the project will see 13million Nigerians issued the card while the next phase will target 100million Nigerians. The project is a partnership with MasterCard, the Nigerian National Identity Management Commission and Access bank.
