The man that brought Rihanna to Def Jam has finally had her back.
Upon finishing her contract with Def Jam, Rihanna has finally left the record label she signed with since 2005.
Complex was first to point out that Def Jam’s website listed Rihanna under the “Legacy” artist section. Roc Nation’s website was also updated to reflect that she is signed to the company as an artist, where she has been managed since 2010. A source at Def Jam confirmed the reports to MTV News. The label change occurred in April 2013, when Roc Nation partnered with Universal Music Group. While she is now technically a Roc Nation artist, Def Jam will still help market, promote, and distribute her music.
Rihanna is expected to release a new album this year.
